DJ KWE LEADS WITH NATIVE PRIDE AND INSPIRATION
COAST TO COAST!

Artist Profile: DJ Kwe

She's an award-winning DJ, writer, producer, promoter, a competitive soccer player and a professional voice talent. Crystal, aka "DJ Kwe" is the embodiment of creativity and success. Born in North Vancouver, B.C., her Métis tribal nation resides in Saskatchewan. In the summer of 2004, M'shko dayn Waashk Bishikii Kwe (which means "Prairie Sage Buffalo Woman) -"DJ Kwe" and was selected to represent the Nation of Canada in an invitational battle of DJs from Canada, the USA, and the UK. She captured the WIN and was featured in local newspapers and radio. Kwe has compiled, mixed and released 11 non-stop CD mixes, showcasing her six years as a professional DJ and the vast knowledge she has absorbed during a decade of diligently following the music industry.

In 2004, Kwe was featured on Canada's national Music television Station, Much Music, in celebration of National Aboriginal Day. She interviewed as one of the few female Aboriginal DJs in Canada. It’s no wonder Kwe’s 3 turntable DJ set has become a popular demand as she sets the standards high for overachievement.  Her visionary musical ways are leading to a brand new genre that fuses traditional singing, drumming, electronic sounds and instruments.  In 2006, she released her first CD of Aboriginal House Music/Original Production called “The Electronic Drum” to the world showcasing her producing, writing and voicing skills.  She is now going mainstream with her musical message of hope and harmony as she DJ’s for youth conferences, corporate events and award galas like the National Aboriginal Achievement Awards 2007.

Her nine years of technology, 10 years youth leadership experience, the DJ KWE’s Wax Warriors, awards, certificates and milestones validate her mission and positive attitude.   Kwe was a featured artist and wrote an article that was published in Spirit Magazine’s music issue, which celebrated Aboriginal artists. She was also featured on the reality TV show “Diva on a Dime” for Global Prime Network and completely changed her look to match her new style.  Her talents have been recognized by the Spirit of Aboriginal Youth Magazine, Third Space, AfroToronto, Windspeaker and she has been deemed as a “Trailblazer” by the Aboriginal Business Quarterly.
